The Smart Housing Development program RED STEP begins with the "Empowerment Building" phase. The SMART HOUSING developer assigns a “Community ambassador” to the individual or family who gets to know the family, maps assets and challenges, and engages residents in meaningful self and family development activities. These activities may include home ownership education 101, leadership development, empowerment projects, and meetings to address common needs and create a vision and achieving ones goals into the future.
The next phase of SMART HOUSING Development is the homeowner connection to wrap around services and resources which includes workshops, classes and one major exciting retreat. This is when the SMART HOUSING developers place leaders, ambassadors and counselors on with individual and families. These AMBASSADORS are a diverse team of vocational, family support, and mental health professionals. They build relationships with families and develop family plans, conduct needs assessments, and link homeowner to opportunities. Ambassadors are coaches and mentors, helping home owners to set and meet individual goals. They work collaboratively with SMART HOUSING future home owners while entertaining but enriching with everlasting benefits. This intensive level of service is anticipated to last at least three months up to a year. |
